Interview with Jessica Funk, awake dentist - Part 2

This is Part 2 of my interview series with Dr Jessica Funk, DDS, a dentist who ‘woke up’ during the manufactured COVID crisis.

If you haven’t watched Part 1 of my interview with Jessica, do that first before tuning into Part 2:

In this conversation, we delved deep into airway obstruction, and how it contributes to a wide range of health problems, from tooth grinding to daytime sleepiness to anxiety. Jessica shared her top tips for how to address mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea, and how to ensure that you’re breathing through your nose rather than your mouth, using simple, low-cost interventions.

We also talked about:

  • The proper use of mandibular advancement devices;

  • The downside of orthodontics;

  • How to assist your child’s airway and jaw to develop optimally;

  • How often to see your dentist;

  • Whether cavities are truly reversible;

  • Jessica’s recommendations for daily dental health, including the one tooth cleaning device that Jessica would never be without;

  • The oral microbiome, its crucial role in nitric oxide production, and the impact of nitric oxide production on your overall health… and how humming can increase it;

  • The ins and outs of dental implants;

  • The vexed question of root canals; and

  • The one thing Jessica would change about dentistry training if she ruled the world.

Jessica’s passion for improving her patients’ overall health by optimising their oral health and airway function really shines through.

Check out her Substack, Unpacking Truth; and her dental practice website, Jessica L Bishop, DDS, PA, Chapel Hill Dentist.

You can also view and share our conversation on Rumble and on Odysee.
