Great article, Robyn! You are on point to identify that empowering our patients to understand their bodies helps the process of healing. We need more practitioners who care deeply and listen intently to their patients. Another excellent point that helps people to believe they can heal. Thank you for your time and dedication to keeping us all informed.
My mentor gave me a book called 'Becoming Naturally Therapeutic' when I was a naturopathy student. It had a huge impact on me. I don't know how many practitioners are really aware of the role they play in the healing process, for good or for bad. And it's not something that's formally taught in the schools that train practitioners, either orthodox or 'alternative', as far as I'm aware.
Placebo: …”it is through our own actions - not the intercession of some magic bullet - that we overcome disease and restore health.”
And what of nocebo? I think everyone is familiar with that effect over the last four years. Media, government, big pharma, big medicine telling us that there was a deadly pathogen that came from bats and pangolins spreading and we were all going to die. Well, maybe not all of us. People became ill just because they thought they had been exposed.
People receive what they believe.
I think the power of our mind and body is more powerful than what most believe.
The nocebo effect is real!!! Just look at all the side-effects reported by people who receive placebos in clinical trials. There are also plenty of documented cases of mass sickness in people who believed they were exposed to a pathogen, but weren't, for example passengers on a flight who believed they were exposed to a highly contagious illness from a fellow passenger and who started reporting all manner of symptoms. We humans are indeed strange creatures!
I wonder how many of the old remedies are in fact placebo, too. I remember keeping certain things in your pocket (a nut, a coin, a hare foot), even the almighty chicken soup ! And in how far could homeopathy be a placebo? There is in fact nothing, or close to nothing, in the liquid or the tablet. But it works.
I find homoeopathy intriguing. Having commenced studying it at naturopathic college, I dropped the course because the whole thing seemed completely preposterous. But I have friends who swear blind that it works on them, their kids, and even their dogs. That's one heck of a placebo!!! I know Luc Montagnier thought it was a valid treatment, and did some investigations into how water could hold 'memory'. Of course he was ridiculed by the scientific community for championing homoeopathy.
nothing but homeopathic tablets work for my itching mosquito stings. My dog reacts fantastic to herbal remedies. Slippery elm bark works way better for diarrhea than the chemicals. I started using herbal in my 20s when tired of all the antibiotics and having bad reactions to other chemicals. A friend told me how his back pain reacted to nothing but homeopathy. I now have a drawer with natural remedies and onlyone or 2 chemicals! (which I usually have to throw out because over date) PS recently I found an article that says, if 3 tablets don't work try 2. That is homeopathy! and sure enough!
That's true, and it's tragic, and what's even more tragic is that 99.9999% of doctors and other medical and health practitioners have no idea that this vital knowledge exists either.
Yup. I agree. They are victims too. Yet supposedly our best and brightest???
When I first came across the idea of the body being able to heal itself - in Joel Furhman's books - I thought it was extreme. Radical, quite out there. Sure, nice idea, but idealistic, certainly not true. Now I'm like, how could it be any other way? The human race wouldn't have made it this far! Not to mention - it's happening everyday! - you get a small cut or get a cold, the body heals it!
(Note: I think it was his first book... the story of him fasting and it healing his ankle, instead of the surgery he'd been recommended).
You will absolutely love Alan Goldhamer's new book, Fasting Can Save Your Life.
As for drs being our 'best and brightest', the entry requirements for most medical schools select for hoop-jumpers, and the actual process of medical education selects for rule-followers and tends to weed out those with a critical mindset. Medical students are bombarded with reams of information that they have to memorise and regurgitate on cue.
My husband vividly recalls comparing his first-year law exam papers with the medical students' exam papers. Law students had to analyse 3 legal cases and formulate a legal argument for each, citing relevant case law, and complete the whole thing in 3 hours without consulting any reference materials. Medical students had to answer multiple choice and short answer questions. The law students just laughed at the medical exam.
Oooh, that book does sound very interesting! Really want to do an extended fast one day.
Wow - that is fascinating re medical exam vs law exam! Doctors I've known have had very good memories and fast processing speed. Lawyers I've known - I assume they're reasonable at law but the majority who I have engaged with struggled to use any other framework to analyse anything. i.e. saw everything through the legal framework of their training.
Bear in mind that my husband was at law school in the 1970s and no doubt the training of law students has gone to hell in a handbasket since then 😂. I just checked the course catalogues of a couple of Australian law schools and sure enough, they're teaching critical legal theory. Game over, man.
The power of belief seems pretty powerful. A great video story of an Australian woman healing herself of metastatic breast cancer by believing she was healed well before her body showed she was healed by imaging. it seems her body responded physically to the belief, which no doubt produced a cascade of beneficial chemicals in her body that provided the environment to heal. Of course, this requires a great deal of stepping out on faith when the physical reality is contradicting the belief for some time. https://youtu.be/40Egi0fJ_oU?si=bgTazcl4JkLzShEK
Faith is such a powerful force, but so difficult to understand, and even more difficult to generate. I've often felt envious of deeply religious people who feel a profound and direct connection with God. I've tried to feel that, but it's never worked for me. I've asked religious people about their faith - where it comes from, when did they first feel it etc - but it's utterly ineffable.
Our entire perception is upside down, for in the Platonic sense, the mind is the source of healing. The healing of the body is the booby-prize. Physical illness is merely a projection of the conflict in our minds onto our body. Pharma does not understand this. Medicine in general doesn't, for it is entirely materialistic, Newtonion and reductionist, and they cannot understand that in some cases the placebo effect can be so strong that drugs seem moot. They don't know what to do for they are determined to look in the wrong place.
'Physical illness is merely a projection of the conflict in our minds onto our body'. Physical illness also results from poisons in the air, water, food and vaccines, also from procedures such as ultrasound. We are all mind-controlled and brainwashed to some degree to accept this poisonous and toxic environment, even to see it as the pinnacle of human achievement. Unless this situation changes, good health will be increasingly difficult to find.
It's all the same thing, it does not matter what the apparent cause is, the "affliction" is an expression of the conflict in the mind.
In a chain collision the car behind you is not necessarily to blame he may have braked on time, but the cars behind him did not and pushed his car in to you. Yet doctors confuse the proximate cause with the actual cause.
The acceptance of sickness as a decision of the mind, for a purpose for which it would use the body, is the basis of healing. ²And this is so for healing in all forms. ³A patient decides that this is so, and he recovers. ⁴If he decides against recovery, he will not be healed. ⁵Who is the physician? ⁶Only the mind of the patient himself. ⁷The outcome is what he decides that it is. ⁸Special agents seem to be ministering to him, yet they but give form to his own choice. ⁹He chooses them in order to bring tangible form to his desires. ¹⁰And it is this they do, and nothing else. ¹¹They are not actually needed at all. ¹²The patient could merely rise up without their aid and say, “I have no use for this.” ¹³There is no form of sickness that would not be cured at once. How does this theory explain poor health arising in the following situations?
1. A newborn suffers massive brain damage caused by a vaccine given at birth, then goes on to live life confined to a wheelchair with the IQ of a 3-year-old.
2. A middle-aged person develops cardiac problems after getting a covid booster, days later they drop dead.

The sheer amount and scale of brainwashing and social engineering has a massive impact on the health of people and society.
100% true.

The last two paragraphs - THIS is EXACTLY what modern medicine has robbed us of. This vital knowledge.
The vast majority of the population has been 'educated'/'brainwashed' into 'health helplessness'. Me included until about 5 minutes ago.
That's true, and it's tragic, and what's even more tragic is that 99.9999% of doctors and other medical and health practitioners have no idea that this vital knowledge exists either.
