Well written as usual Robyn. Punishing people for making healthier choices is pretty indicative of the kind of society we are shaping in the 2020's. It seems the government wants us to live in a permanent dependance on pharmaceuticals as that's where all the big bucks are. Shame on them, and more power to you and other caring health professionals. Thank you for your wonderful efforts.

It's all part of the 1984 world we're living in. The meaning of "healthy" is being redefined as "up to date with all your government-mandated shots". No doubt in the (near) future it will also mean "taking all your government-mandated psychiatric medications" and maybe even "sporting the very latest version of your government-approved brain chip"!

Excellent, Robyn. Let's see what the big medicine and big pharma quislings in Canberra do about it.

I have no doubt they will do as their pHarma lobbyists tell them to do!

I can get a rebate for health care from health care professionals that don't work very well, but cannot get a rebate from Alternative health care professionals that work spectacularly! Huh

Yup, that's the deal. You're far more profitable to the pharmaceutical-medical-industrial complex if you remain chronically ill and dependent on medications for the rest of your life. You might think, "But why would the government want this, when it's going to cost them more, since they're subsidising my care?" The answer to that is, the more subsidised medical care you believe you need, the more willing you'll be to vote for governments that promise to take care of Australians' health through the Medicare system. The pharma industry buys the politicians who then enact policies that benefit their donors, such as approving expensive drugs with marginal benefits, and prohibiting private health insurers from issuing rebates for natural therapies. To pay for this expensive and ineffective "care", the government borrows money from international bankers, which own controlling stakes in pharmaceutical companies. It's all one big f*#king club, as George Carlin used to say, and you're not in it - you're just the sheep getting fleeced.

It's heartening to see so many exiting the flock right now, and taking responsibility for their own health!

Nice. I have written a lot lately to many MP's, state and federal ministers etc and made submissions. The replies I get are condescending and basically indicate the contempt my elected reps have for me. I have legally changed my address to a marginal seat where my vote may count, though with our preferential voting system, it truly does favour the duopoly. There is far too much regulation, which has the unfortunate and perhaps deliberate effect of crushing small business as big business are the only ones who can afford to comply.

I have no doubt there's a deliberate plan to crush small businesses, along with independent practitioners.

We have so much more power than we realise. If everyone voted with their feet (and their wallets) as you have done, this entire oppressive system would collapse tomorrow.
