Overall, I see a pattern of disruption and discounting of nearly every traditional food, beverage and custom of human beings. Constant destabilization is now their main goal as in all warfare.

That's a really good point. Undermining people's culinary traditions is yet another way to destabilise people. I don't know that the likes of Steven Gundry are aware of this or whether they just ride the waves created by the predator class.

You hit the nail on the head!

Robyn, I get so much pleasure, satisfaction and knowledge from your posts, maybe you should start charging me more. I have issues with Gundry beyond his snake oil - his ads keep popping up when I’m trying to view other content. I’ve wondered why, if he was such a great thoracic heart surgeon, did he give up saving lives to become a salesman for questionable supplements.

I was raised on beans, beans the musical fruit. Maybe they stunted my growth. I give my son-in-law a hard time because he likes bean sandwiches, not because of the beans, but the white bread he puts them on.

Another one of the foods being denigrated by many is oatmeal. I was raised on that, too. My mother would get up every morning to make oatmeal, real oatmeal that took 20-30 minutes to cook. I don’t eat it often now, I prefer steel cut, but I suffer no ill effects from it.

Bottom line once again is to eat whole, real food. Eating an olive makes more sense than drinking olive oil.

Thank you again for being the voice of reason.

It's a pleasure to have such intelligent readers :). Keep your article suggestions coming, by the way!

I share your questions about why a 'successful' surgeon would quit surgical practice. Good surgeons make big incomes, so if he was so successful at it, why quit to become an internet celebritard?

I love my beans and oatmeal too. And I raised my kids on them. Definitely no stunted growth there!

Seriously, what is it with American doctors leaving the profession to become total conmen?! There's so many of them!

Expand full comment

Well, it apparently pays extremely well.

Because doctors are conmen🤣

'Lectins are one of many deadly poisons that plants deviously concoct in their ceaseless quest to kill you. And the guy saying this has a hot girlfriend, so it must be true.' - Haha, gold!

Couldn't help myself. The manipulation techniques used by these snake oil salesmen are so transparent.

Excuse my ignorance Robyn.

Is lectin the same thing as Lecithin?

Expand full comment

No, but you'd be surprised how many people ask me this question! Lecithin is a fatty substance found in the cell membranes of animals, and in some plant foods (e.g. sunflower seeds, soybeans). Lectins are proteins that bind carbohydrates.

Thanks for the clarification.

I must be one of those few who can't consume legumes and some other vegetables as I had been eating vegetarian with some autoimmune issues then when I increased my legume intake, which I love, I developed overwhelming joint pain. I had to cut them out entirely, sadly. I was having canned ones so I'm also wondering if there is something in the lining of the cans??

Expand full comment

That is a shame. It's possible that you were reacting to the solder or lining of the cans, but you may just be one of the unlucky ones who don't tolerate legumes. A supervised water-only fast is well worth considering though, as you may find it kick-starts the gut healing process so that you can eventually reintroduce legumes.
