"When depressed people are given anti-inflammatory drugs, their depressive symptoms decrease"

Reading this, 1 idea struck me.

What if depression is an automatic healing response to the inflammation?

Slowing down, lethargy, withdrawing from activities and society, are very similar to what we naturally do when we get the flu for example?

Depression was something I experienced intensely over parts of my life.

When I was having my first child in 2013 I was at a low point. But why? I was supposed to be happy. A new child, an amazing wife and a thriving business which I enjoyed. Something wasn't right.

I looked at the other things in my life. A bad diet, lots of alcohol and I was overweight.

I cleaned up my diet, stopped drinking and lost weight.

Depression and anxiety lifted.

I knew even then that depression is the body and minds way out telling you something is not being done right.

And to think we need science and a 17 year delay to tell us this?
